Norman Crouch

Dr. Norman Crouch was born Sept. 30, 1933 in Itasca, Texas. He attended Abilene Christian College and North Texas State University and graduated from the University of Texas in 1956. He graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1966. After completing his internship at the Fort Worth Osteopathic Hospital, he worked as a family physician in Fort Worth, Texas for the next four years.

In 1971, he moved to Hamilton, Texas to join his brother-in-law Dr. Melvin Curry in family practice. He felt strongly that the community needed a hospital and worked diligently to help re-open the Hamilton General Hospital in 1988. For his contribution to the community he was awarded the honor of Co-Citizen of the Year along with Dr. Ping Tan. In 1995, he obtained his board certification in Family Practice. Dr. Crouch was kind and gentle and generously gave of his time to help others.

Dr. Crouch was a scholar of the Bible. While attending medical school in the early 1960's Dr. Crouch was instrumental in the establishment of the Church of Christ congregation in Grandview, Missouri. Around 1970, Dr. Crouch was instrumental in the establishment of the congregation at the Davis Boulevard Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1971  he was a founding member of the congregation at the Hamilton Church of Christ in Hamilton, Texas. 

He held regular Bible studies in his home for many years. He provided a Sunday morning radio Bible study for 25 years on KCLW in Hamilton, Texas in addition to 3 other radio stations in the surrounding communities. He officiated at weddings and funerals and conducted many baptisms. He had a strong passion for the Bible and was always ready to study privately or teach before a congregation. Dr. Crouch passed away December 24, 2005.

He loved the Gospel. He loved spreading the Gospel. He loved teaching the truth. He loved helping others. Beginning in the early 1970’s, Dr. Crouch began holding weekly Bible studies in his home and invited the public to attend. It was not unusual to have 30-40 people attend each of these Bible studies. He preferred chapter by chapter, verse by verse study. His belief was that if there was any subject in the Bible, that by doing verse by verse study, we would have to encounter that subject and study it. He also believed that studying verse by verse helps to keep every teaching in context.

Dr. Crouch began recording his home Bible studies and shortly after began recording his lessons from the Sunday worship services in Hamilton. In addition, he began recording verse by verse studies designed in the format required by the radio stations for the weekly radio programs. He purchased cassette tape duplication equipment and began duplicating his tapes to give to anyone who was interested. He had quite a long list of people to whom he would mail his tapes and CD's free of charge. He had hundreds of copies circulating.
